Important Resources

There are thousands of web sites by and for transgendered people of all kinds. These are some key sites that you will want to visit again and again.

Medical and Other Resources for Transsexual Women The best collection of medical information for transsexuals, developed and maintained by a post-operative transsexual physician. Dr. Lawrence is a member of the HBIGDA, which defines the standards of care for transsexuals.
Road Map For Male-to-Female Transsexuals In-depth practical advice on many topics, including electrolysis, facial and hair surgery, voice, and much, much more. Articulate first-hand accounts by people who have been there.
gender.org Gender Education and Advocacy. A clearing house for many community issues, from legal reform to local support resources.
The International Foundation for Gender Education Publisher of Transgender Tapestry magazine, and another strong source of community information and services.
The Intersex Society of North America Information and advocacy for intersexuals.
FTM International Resources and information for female-to-male transsexuals.
Gianna E. Israel Gender Library A leading therapist in the field and a prolific writer, Gianna provides insight into all aspects of transgender issues. No matter who you are and no matter what questions you may be facing, you will find much to learn here.
PFLAG Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays; they also provide support for families and friends of transgendered people.

I used to list a lot more resources than this, but the community has grown while my time has disappeared. Many people do a good job of tracking it all, though. Search, and you shall find.
