There are many ways to find things in my site. You can explore. You can browse the updates. You can use the index. Or you can come here for the straight skinny.
This is where I started, with a close facsimile of my life. If you are here to read about gender issues, there's a lot here. If that kind of thing bores you to tears, there is plenty more to see.
The gender thing has been a big item in my life, although it's really nice to have it all straightened out and behind me. If you're still working through those things, there are resources here. There's also the archive that I keep for Gianna Israel, a therapist who is highly respected in our community, and a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) for the newsgroup soc.support.transgendered. Whatever else I can say about it, it's been quite a ride.
For the really ancient tomes, you need to visit my fiction. Once upon a time I wanted to get published in science fiction. Perhaps I might have made it; I may never know. You can judge my progress for yourself. The Blood of the Covenant was probably my closest approach to publication (although it might be too dark for some people's tastes).
On that dark side, I'm an abuse survivor and I live with depression. I've learned a lot by coming to terms with these things, and my flame retardant translates those lessons into a survival guide for Usenet newsgroup participation.
If life has been difficult at times, it's my sense of humor that gets me through. There's plenty here, with the quirkiness you might come to know if you met me in real life. There are other things as well, mundane interests in music and food, and stories about me.
This is more work-related, including current, past, and future interests.
I've reorganized a bit, so much of what used to be here is now at my business site. There are papers here about software design, including several that deal with user interface concerns. There are also papers on web site design (including A Web Site is a Harsh Mistress and Rules of Thumb) which have grown out of my interest in general usability. If you want a feel for my views on usability, I recommend On the Development of Humane Software.
Although I don't use Photoshop professionally, visual thinking is never wasted when it comes to maintaining design skills. Here are my Photoshop hints and tips. I've learned a lot about color, too.
Fun and frolic time! This section started because so much of the rest of my site has to be organized as an information resource. Digital Nirvana gives me the freedom to play, to display some of my visual work, and to experiment with less linear forms of expression. I have to brag; my Glass Lilies earned a compliment of "truly remarkable" from one of Adobe's product marketing managers for Photoshop.

This is only the Quick Tour--a sampler, just as the title says. There are more than 250 pages here, so take your time, come back once in a while, and browse as long as you like!
And thanks for dropping in.
