Ancient Egyptian ObjectsPaul Lord (a hurricane triggered by butterfly's wings) writes: > The LACMA is having an exhibit on "The American Discovery of Ancient Egypt". Bowls, sarcophagi, stela, ritual objects, statues, portraits, When I read this, I first thought that the exhibit included Ancient Egyptian bowling balls. Too bad they didn't have any bowling pins (unless those were included as a subcategory of "ritual objects"); I would certainly expect that the pins were all shaped as sacred animals--cats, birds, foxes. A coiled snake would be good, but possibly hard to knock over. The birds' beaks probably wouldn't have survived more than a frame or two, and certainly would have caused problems in the Ancient Egyptian pin setter. |
